Noob here. This is an older alarm in a 92 Chevy Blazer. Everything currently works correctly with the system. I had to get two new remotes. When I follow the directions in the manual to program the new remotes, the system doesn't chirp when I hit the valet button. Can this function be locked out? Or am I just missing something simple.

Have you made sure the siren still works? I've used a regular test light on the siren output to program before.

Yes sir. I have one half functioning remote, and the siren chirps every time I lock or unlock it just like it always has.

Are you sure it's seeing the door open with the ignition on (push button plugged into the Blue port).
Check and make sure it's seeing the door open

I am using the push button plugged into the blue port. I'm not sure how to tell that the system is seeing the door being open. I do know that when I opened the door with the key instead of the fob the alarm went off. I assume that means it is aware of the door status.

Very possible then that the module is Locked, and will need a Bitwriter. Can you give a local dei dealer 20 bux to unlock it?

Nailed it. Followed the violet wire (door +) out of the module and it looks like it was cut at some point. Can't find the other side of the wire. Doesn't look like it was wired directly to the door switch. Is it correct to assume I can hook this wire up to the "+ when open" side of the door switch? And do I have to wire the green wire (door -) to the other door switch wire, or can I just grab a good ground anywhere. I don't care about the alarm function of this unit, I just need to program the new alarm fobs.

You don't need both wires, just one or the other. Violet is used for positive door trigger, green for negative door trigger.

Ground the green, it'll think the door is open. Just unhook it when you're done

OK, got the new fobs to program so maybe y'all can help with this.
The new fobs use the same button to lock and unlock, even though they have dedicated buttons for those features.
The rear tailgate unlocks and the remote start works, so the remotes are usable. Just trying to make them match the original 4 button remotes. BTW, had to reprogram the one working old fob that I had, and it also now uses a single button for lock and unlock.
