I guess I wasn't too specific about the key the vehicle will only start when the key is in the run position

Then the bypass is not working at all.

Anything am I missing with the connections that will cause that

If you are using the dball2 from your 2016 install, then I assume that it's wiring is ok.

Where have you connected the 2nd ignition wire (WH)?

Nowhere I left it the way it was from the previous install

It turned out that the prostart remote starter was defective
