hi everybody,
i have an issue i can’t seem to figure out. was hoping i can get some guidance on how to troubleshoot.
here’s the equipment;
alarm: viper 5906
trunk solenoid: DEI 522T
the trunk release wire from the alarm is being used to trigger a relay that then gives 12v to the trunk solenoid. there’s a 15a fuse in the wire going to the solenoid.
hitting the trunk release button on the remote results in triggering the trunk solenoid, as expected. however, the solenoid keeps blowing the 15a fuse between itself and the relay. sometimes the solenoid will pop the trunk before blowing the fuse. sometimes it seems like it’s barely getting any power and struggles to pull the wire. but no matter how it behaves, the fuse will blow after 1-3 tries.
i’ve switched out the solenoid already. both solenoids have same behavior.
what could be the problem here?

i’m not sure. it’s the fuses that came with the trunk release solenoid from DEI. i assume it’s whatever kind they wanted you to use.

Sounds like either solenoid relocation or if you used a relay how did you wire it?
