Hi guys,
I am looking for some help in removing the factory stereo. Any first hand experience is greatly appreciated. I think I have to remove the centre lower dashboard cover first, but I had a hard time with it. The plastic feels like it's going to break when I pull hard on it. The other thing is that you can't get any levage on it for a good grip because the cup holder lid keeps poping up. It seem like the removal is very similar to the 2001 model. Anyways, let me know guys. Thanks.

There should be some screws holding in that lower panel, but some of them are hidden behind the glovebox door.  just open the glovebox, and there should be one on top and one on the bottom.  And then on the left side usually you have to remove the screws on the right side of the panel underneath the steering column, then pull that back a lil bit and you should be able to get at the screws for that center panel.  Once you have that off it's pretty easy to get to the hex screws/bolts holding in the radio assembly.  I think they are 8mm but I am not 100% sure.

Once you undo those two/three bolts the whole assembly will slide right out.  You have to remove some of the climate control back assemblies in order to completely remove the stock head unit, as it only slides out from the front.  It's prett self-explanatory once you get it pulled out from the dash.

Only one screw on the 03 model behind the glove box, and its at the bottom-----the lower dash no longer comes out---or comes out easily I should say.  Does your civic have the flip up cup holder, then above it a little dash insert---that houses 2 dash "blanks" and the cig lighter.---if so, you need to use a pick to remove one of the blanks then you can use that opening to pull forward on that dash piece, just pull forward, its held in by clips on all four corners.  Once that is out you will be able to access the two 8mm bolts that hold the radio/heater cluster (just look straight up in the opening)  Once those are removed you will be able to push forward from behind the radio, popping the whole cluster out---its only held in by clips as well, but these clips are the mother of all clips, you will have to push quite a bit to get it out.  Once thats out, remove the factory harnesses---to iso a new radio in, you will have to remove the 3 nobs for the heater/ac, then remove the 3 screws holding it to the dash from behind. ---its so you can can access the screws that hold the radio in on that side.  Grab your dash kit, mount the radio, wire your harness, plug it up, and put everything back together and all should be good.

Thanks esmith69 & IronCy,
I remove the shifter panel first which made the job a lot easier. You said it IronCy this cars got the mother of all clips. If you want a tight rattle free dash panel car this car is it. Anyways, thanks for the tips.
