I purchased a Viper 4105V/DB3 combo, the DB3 came programmed for the '07 CRV. I got both modules wired per the DB3 wiring diagram, and only the door lock/unlock functions. The viper remote arms and disarms the factory alarm, flashes the P lights, and flashes the blue security LED on the Viper antenna, so I believe the DB3 has been flashed correctly, but the remote start does not respond.
The vehicle is a key start.
Just to note my skill level, I am a Mechanical Engineer, and have been building and restoring automobiles for over 40 yrs. I have built and reconstructed wiring harnesses.
To give some particulars on the installation: I got a detailed wiring diagram for the DB3 on the 2007 CRV, but nothing specific on the Viper 4105V. The DB3 diagram just shows a block for a remote start module with only 7 of the many wires connected to the car.
I made all the instructed DB3 connections, and the indicated connections on the 4105V module with the exception of the hood pin (waiting to test if needed, I believe there is a factory hood open signal). On power up the LED on the DB3 indicated successful programming.
Below is a summary of what I did and did not connect on the Viper 4105V module:
-Remote start harness, 5 pin white connector - I have none of these connected, in fact it is not even plugged in. Should any of these wires be connected?
Pin 1) Parking brake input - not connected, I don't think it's needed, car has an automatic transmission
Pin 2) Tachometer input - not connected, doesn't DB3 take care of this?
Pin 3) Brake shutdown input - not connected, not sure what this signal does
Pin 4) Hood pin shut down - not connected, waiting to see if needed, my other CRV has a factory hood open signal
Pin 5) Rear defogger output - not connected, but I would like the rear defogger to go on in the winter
-Main harness, 9 pin white connector
Pin 1) factory alarm disarm - not connected, but functioning with Viper remote
Pin 2) factory alarm disarm - not connected, but functioning with Viper remote
Pin 3) Ignition out to alarm - not connected is this needed, I don't have a Viper alarm?
Pin 4) Activation input - not connected, not sure where this would be connected to?
Pin 5) Anti-Grind - not connected, not sure where this would be connected to?
Pin 6) Horn output - not connected I think I need this, horn is not sounding when locking the doors
Pin 7) Trunk release - not connected, I don't have a trunk release
Pin 8) Chassis ground - connected, good connection to chassis
Pin 9) light flash output - connected, P lights flash on lock and unlock, I must have got the light flash polarity jumper in the correct position.
-Heavy gauge relay harness, 6 pin white - all pins connected
-Door lock harness, white 3 pin - did not use
-Satellite harness, white 4 pin - did not use
-D2D harness - all pins connected, viper module to DB3
Are any of the wires that I did not connect prohibiting the remote start from functioning?
Is there some programming to the 4105V module that I missed.
Any help would be much appreciated.
