When reading my resistances for my Passlock 2 bypass module, my reader reads .572 on the 20 setting.

So is this 572 ohm for the purpose of setting resistance dip switches.  And if I cant set the switches exact, is it better to go high or low?

Try to get it within 25 ohms +/- of 572. The Passlock should still work within 5 % of error, but you may get a SECURITY light on the dash come up everytime you remote start. Try to be as close as you can +/- of 572 whatever is closer.

The Audiovox AS-PASSIII I sometimes use at work has very detailed instructions.

When you hook up your meter, one of your leads will be connected to a ground, the other to the yellow R-code wire of the Passlock harness.

They say that you should observe the meter, note the reading, then reverse the two meter leads and test again.  Use the lower of the two readings.  You must be within 5 percent of the original value.

---------------------------------------------

Also, here's the easiest way to test the wire, without sending false codes and triggering the Security light.

Set parking brake.

Cut yellow Passlock wire in half.  Attach the "key" side of the wire to your meter, other side of the meter to ground.

Turn the key forward a little, shift transmission to Reverse.

Turn the key all the way to Start and release.  The car won't try to start, since it's not in neutral or Park.  Your meter will still show the correct R-code, but since the engine never cranked, the Security light won't trip, even if you make some mistake.
