I need some help in finding a combination sound (AM/FM CD Satellite radio) and navigation system. I hope to keep the cost down under a $1000 but, whatever it takes. I have been to some of the usual suspects, Circuit City, Good Guys, etc. and they don't even know what GPS is, let alone where I could get one. I am in the Sacramento area, and can easily go to San Francisco or the Bay Area if I need to go there for a good vendor/installer/etc..

So, if anyone has any information, personal experience, vendors-suppliers, etc., I would really appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks for your time,

Chris Difani, cdifan@pacbell.net

This is basically what your looking for I think

http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=pionavsys900dvd
http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=clajoysn
The first one plays DVDs to the screen as well as the GPS, but it costs about $2000

The second costs under $1000 but youll need installation.

If you know how to install a head unit you can probably do this, but do the research first. Good Luck!

installation of the pioneer systems are easy as pie with the exception of the safty switch for the nav and video system ... I just installed the entire Pioneer video stereo and navigation system.... but its going to cost you at least 2200 or there about.... but go with the pioneer AVIC-9DVD Nav system its last years model but its a great system so you can get them for 1000 to 1150 if you need help i know a guy on ebay that sells them for that... then go with the pioneer AVX-P7300DVD the screen is 1/2 inch larger than the above listed system, and you can get it for around 1000 to 1200 with the brain.... sometimes the system above still needs a brain to be purchased but with the 7300 system you usually can get the AVM-P8000R brain/tuners/amplifiers all in one and there you go and installation is a breeze especially if you get the wiring information from the12volts wiring database email me if you have any questions or need help findind these things for a reasonable price the best thing about pioneer is that you can buy it one peice at a time to make it easier to buy seperate than all at once and if you buy the 7300 it has the brain amplifiers and so you can enjoy the dvd am/fm and cd until you add the nav system at a later date then all you do is pretty much plug the nav system right off the brain and use that wiring

you have no chance of getting quality parts for under $1000.
