I was a dumba$$ and got to talking with a friend while mixing up a bondo milkshake for a project and forgot to put any hardener into the mix, I apllied that mixture and went back to make another batch and thats when I remembered I didn't put any hardener in there. What can I do? I know that coat won't harden. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know what I should do?

Its been about 20 hours now and its still as gooey as ever.

I would try to mix some with maybe a little extra hardener, and aplly it over the top of the other trying to mix the two as well as you can, and see if that helps. Otherwise if it is still as gooey as when you started then you could scrape it all off and then add hardener.

i would say that you need to take it off, b/c it will not harden, if it dries it will be brittle, it will most likely stay real gooey...I dont think that putting more on top of this layer will help.

What would you suggest be the best method for removing it?

Does everyone else agree that removing it is the only way?

What did you put it on, how hard would it be to scrape it off with the bondo scraper you put it on with?

Scrape it all off, it will not harden or dry without hardener. after you get it off the best you can with a scraper of whatever you use i would suggest using a cotton rag or somthing of the sort to get the extra off, it will stick to the rag. lol that was really stupid, hope it works out

No Sh*t, I just got distracted and next thing you know, I forgot the hardener.

The bondo milkshake was put on a mdf enclosure that had a few layers of fiberglass cloth. I use 75% resin and 25% lightweight filler (base coat / clear coat). I add the mekp hardener to that mixture and use a paitbrush to apply it.

Well, to let everyone know what I have tried......I wiped the enclosure down with acetone to try and remove the bondo milkshake. I then put another coat of milkshake on top of it. It is currently hardening know, I'll let you all know how it turns out tommarrow.

Well, guys, sorry it took so long for me to reply but it has taken this long for it to finally cure.......no not really. It has turned out just fine.
