If you want something without paging then get an Alpine. If you want something with paging capabilities, then there are lots out on the market, just get the one with alot of expandable features on it.

Alpine alarms are ok. I would say about 20% of them have internal problems. The remote stops working with the brain is the most common problem.

My opinion: Compustar 2WSS    www.compustar.org

Make sure you know how to do one of these. Get the full instructions from a dealer. And the handheld programmer is a must.

Alpine alarms work great, crappy range, paging alarms comustars remotes suck. I've put in a few autopage 850s, they work great, 2 or 3 remote came back messed up tho.  just my experience.

Yah I know the Alpine's have crappy range ! The Lynx are pretty good as well as the Autostarts. The Compustar's that I have installed are not too bad, but the CPU's are HUGE !! Not really anti theft if you ask me.

I'm a big fan of Design Tech International's stuff. I've installed 4 of them for myself and family members, and never have had a problem with something not working. They're well-designed and documented, and not too expensive. They have a self-install kit available at BJ's wholesale club (East Coast & New England US) for a little over 60 clams...
