for the remote turn on wire, is there anything bad with hooking it up to like the cigarette lighter wire, or is it better to connect it to the ignition wire?

the loc should just splice into the rear channels. the remote wire can be spliced into any 12v+ that you have in the car except for some you may need to add in a toggle switch of a switch of some kind

connect the remote wire into a 12 v ignition source, but you may need to get a device that stops the pop when you turn it on, like the one stinger sells.
