Hi!

I am in Calgary, Alberta - I got this as a gift for my mother, but it's beening such a headache -got the remote entry done, just this stupid tach wire, can't figure out where it goes!!!

So, for the data link connector, it's not going to have anything plugged into it, right? it will just be a empty socket to plug into? I would then tap the tach wire into the black wire coming off the back of the data link connector?

Many thanks for any help you can provide

Okay everyone, we got the remote start working!

Now the only issue is the accessories! :(  I tapped the acc. wire on the remote starter into the blue/red wire, as everyone says, but it will not activate the accessories. So the heater, etc will not come on until the key hits the on posistion! :(  That's no good!

What other wires have people tapped into for the accessories on a 2001 RAV4 ?

Thanks!

Have you tried testing the BLUE/RED wire at the igntion harness to see if you in fact have the proper wire ? The wire will test 12 volts with the key in the ACC/ON positions. If it does, then turn on the fan motor and with the car off, take a jumper wire from 12 volts to the RED / BLUE wire. This will turn on the fan and the heater if you have the proper wire. If this is the case and the remote starter doesn't engage the heater or fan, make sure that there is not a programming option that allows you to change the time frame that the ACC wire gets 12 volts on it. If it does, program the time to 0 seconds after remote start for engagement of the circuit.

Well, I did read through the maunal looking for the exact thing you mention, a timer on the acc start, but I didn't come up with anything... That said, it was 4:30am at that point... Keyless Entry/Remote Start on 2001 RAV4 - Page 3 -- posted image.

I will have to wait until I can borrow a multi meter to check the lines for power, but I will go back and re-read the manual to ensure I ddnt do anyhting wrong
