I am installing a Commando FM-870 on a '94 Z28 Auto Camaro with no previous keyless and am having difficulites with the illuminated entry and how to trigger the alarm upon any door opening.  I tapped into the dome light above the back seat and found that at rest both wires are +, but then when the light comes on with any door open, the orange wire stays + and the gray changes to -, so it is negative trigger correct?  So I tried hooking up the negative trigger input for the alarm to that gray wire, now here is the wierd part.  When I open the driver's door, the light of course comes on, but the alarm does not go off, but when i open either the passenger door or the trunk, then the alarm goes off. I am confused, what do I need to do to make the driver's door make it go off?  I also tried that same gray (-) wire with the illuminated entry and without the negative door input trigger wire installed and the dome lights do not go on with unlock. Please help!

Thanks!

Kevin

Correction to that above post:  The alarm only goes off after the trunk release switch has been activated, either by remote or the original switch. So the alarm does not go off if I open any of the 3 doors if the remote trunk hasnt been activated.

you need to find the white wire under the dash courtesy light (the one by your feet), this wire is a negative pulse.  This should do the trick, and it's a heck of alot easier to get at

I looked and there is no dash courtesy light. The only interior lights are the two on the rear view mirror and the dome light. Any other suggestions?

rip your interior apart and find the wire comming from your dome light.  It should run down your a-pillar.

You can also use gray/black in drivers kick panel on some models.

But wouldnt that wire I would find in the a-pillar be the same wire I am using right now?

Velocity, any more specifics on where that gray/black wire would be?  I tried looking but couldnt find it.

Thanks!

worst case scenario you can go to the door pin and grab the wire from behind there.  even if there is no courtsey light look for a white wire in the kick it still could be there as well.
