Was wondering... with a Black Widow 2-way FM alarm...    because it is FM, could'nt we splice into the STOCK antenna instead of using the small one that came with it?
to increase the range?
posibly open the antenna up and solder the + & - wires from the BW rubber antenna to the stock antenna wire comming to the radio?
Thanks!

You could increase the range by employing several methods. Or, at the very least, ensure a consistent paging distance is obtained by using the following things.
1. Find out the FM freq that the unit transmits on. Then purchase an amplified antenna to boost the signal.
2. Install, and regulate the voltage output that the unit requires. As in the case for power amplifiers, who's output is higher at 14.8 VDC, opposed to being at 12.8 VDC. The very same thing applies to the paging unit.
3. ILLEGAL: You can purchase a CB booster amplifier, which does not exceed 10 watts output, and place the output of the pagers antenna to the CB amplifer booster and it will increase the range by 10 fold.
This is illegal, just so we are clear... But alot of people do this.
4. Assuming you are electrically inclined, you may adjust the sensitivty of the unit with a SWR meter to obtain a 1:1 ratio.
But that is impossible, in the automotive arena. Therefor a 1:2 to 1:3 etc. is ideal.
5. Ensure the basic installation is there: That the antenna is free and clear of any metal obstruction within 3" of the antenna.
Never coil the remainder of the antenna cable.
6. Install a real CB antenaa which is 42-48" to ensure maximum transmission.
7. Use common sense: Park closer to windows, and doors. Do not park in the back of any building which has exposed HVAC, and power generation devices.
Do not park by or in front of any automatic door openers.
