Would it be possible to power a computer in the car because a computer uses only 12v/5v/3v?

If it were possible, you could either use an xbox (power cable wired around the regular power supply) or make a PC using those micro cases and get some mini-suspension thing for the hard drive.  This way you could have a DVD player with whatever abilities you want (memory settings, ...) as well as have a full function computer and take it from there.

If you just went with the PS2 as a DVD video source, you would also have to consider the remote sensor.  Where with a mobile DVD you should get a remote sensor that you can install remotely.

Sorry it took so long for me to reply, I went out of town for the holidays. I have a 2002 Caviler. it is lowered two inches, has low pro tires, and rides"like a tank". I don't think you will have any problems installing a PS2 in a Dakota. As far as a computer, inside of computers are a power suppy. Some of them are possibly 12 volt. and you could just bypass the power supply??

 Peace!!

what i have seen done is this: on the PS2 there is a remote control "extension cord" , you could extend this from the unit to give you the plug in spot right on the dash somewhere, with the PS2 there is also a DVD remote that plugs into the female remote control part on the PS2 itself, you could plug that in there if you wanted to watch a movie and have the remote

I run an xbox in both of my vehicles(99 intrepid & 94 mustang). No problems with bumps at all. Nice thing with box is that it has a hard drive built in and can be modified to run linux based software legally.
