Anyone have any special techniques or recommendations when pasting the carpet to a bare box? I left small overlaps on the top of my box to provide a bit of handle.

I like to use 3M "Super 77" spray adhesive to attach carpeting to boxes.  One thing to watch out for, though.  If you get any silicone sealant on the outside of the box, the Super 77 doesn't stick to that at all.  Speaker carpet is relatively thin, so be sure to use a sharp knife or scissors to cut it so that it doesn't pull and deform out of shape.

i hate that 3m stuff, it takes to long to set up, look at your local hobby or fabric store for something call contact adhesive its in a grey aresol container, this stuff sets up by the time you have the whole side sprayed, so the carpet goes on and sticks very well easy to work with not as messy
