Will one 12 inch L7 dual 2 ohm sub wired at 1 ohm handle a memphis 1000d at 1 ohm?

The amp puts out 1100 watts at 1 ohm.

Sub is rated at 750 watts rms.

As long as you're careful, and don't abuse it, it should hold up alright.

I agree. You're right at the halfway point between RMS and Peak (you really don't want to go any higher). And unless you've already beefed up your alternator, chances are you wont get the full 1100 from the amp anyway. So yes, as long as you tune the gains properly then you should be safe.

The power handling is also going to be dependent on the size of the sub box, give us some info on that as well.

Thanks guys but a little too late!!! I blew out two Kickers L7's Dual 4ohms with the Memphis 1000.  I had them in 1.25 box for each sub. I had each speaker wired at 2 ohms which in turn gave me a 1 ohm for the amp purposes.

By the way I do have an 150 amp alternator in my car.  But why I the speakers are 750 watts rms and I was only putting 550 watts to each sub?

RMS power handling  can be measured in many ways and some arnt that accurate. Look at DYohn's post about power handling. And if your looking for replacement subs go with JL's 12" W7s. I think they're better then the Kickers if you can afford them. Here is the link to dyohns post: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=25066&PN=4

Also a speakers power handling will go down about 100 watts if its in a ported enclosure.

It was a sealed box.............How about 12'' eclipse titaniums vs JL W7's?  I can buy the eclipses for about $100 less for each sub.

If you blew 2 L7's with an 1100 watt amp then you did something wrong. Those subs should not have blown. Did you get them from an authorized retailer or off of eBay?
If you can get them Authorized go Eclipse. I'm running (2) RF Punch HX2's right now powered by an RF Power 1000bd, but am saving for (2) Eclipse Titaniums and a second Power 1000bd. The Titaniums ROCK! But make sure to have a thick enough box, as they tend to pull themselves out! Use a minimum of 3/4" MDF, and a Gross volume of around 1.25 cu.ft. Double up on the front baffel (mounting surface) to be safe, and use GOOD SCREWS!
If you buy authorized, the Titaniums run around $800 a piece. They're Dual 4ohm DVC's, 750RMS 1500 Peak. Eclipse 12" Titaniums
