 Hi,

Is it easier when locating door trigger, just to tag into the dome light wire if every door activate this light, and forget about the door triggering wire.

 Thanks.

"Is it easier"
In most cases, yes. Main difference is that the alarm won't arm until the domelight goes out whereas using the door triggers it will arm up as soon as all the doors are closed regardless of the domelight. Of course some units have options for the domelight delay etc..I usually just hit the domelight wire and be done with it. Good luck,
Mike

I usually use the domelight wire. There are a couple of drawbacks...like NowYaKnow said some domelights have a delay on them. In the other cases, some cars have a "light on, door, and an off" switch. That means that switch has to ALWAYS be on "door" or you have yourself a problem.

 Hi,

Please help. Did an alarm on this unit, and everything worked fine but the owner just called saying that the light that tells you that a door is open stays on as she is driving and all the doors are actually closed. Wired a single wire for the door trigger, to the car`s domelight wire, no diode used since is only one wire, can the alarm be backfeeding a ground to this wire? Should I diode isolate this wire so a ground signal only goes to the alarm and not to the car wiring.

 Please help, confused, Thank you.

Hi,

When installing an after market alarm on any car and it has a factory alarm (antitheft) installed, should I always turn that one off, or just have both working? Any conflicts between them two? in general.

 Thnaks.

 Hi,

Any idea why after an alarm installation the door light will stay on?. Used one trigger wire ( domelight) for all 4 doors, No diode. Can the alarm be sending a ground back  to the car? Can I diode isolate this wire? Its a nissan 2004, did not turn off factory alarm.

Well usually your factory alarms arms when you lock the door after the key is taken out of the ignition. I haven't had any problems when using both alarms. Only thing that I say is if you use your after market alarm key pad to lock the doors there is no need to set your factory alarm(lock the door) or you can always just bypass the alarm all together if you wanted to take that route. Hope this helps.
