HEy folks, I need a nice subwoofer that is close to the sound of a JL audio w7, but not at that price. $500 is a ton of money. SO whats the better subwoofer. Sealed box only.

ALPINE TYPE-R 12"

MA AUDIO COM XL 12"
KICKER SOLO BARIC L7 12" or 10"
ELEMENTAL DESIGN   e12O.44 / .14

ETC....

Consider the Eclipse aluminum  and Lightning Audio strike aluminum drivers, both work in small sealed boxes. Have metered both drivers used in pairs to levels over 140 db with sq to match. I prefer the Eclipse, they are more expensive, but definitely worth it.

If you want the closest performance to the W7, but at a lower price then check out the Adire Audio Brahma or Resonant Engineering XXX.

why not go with a kicker solo baric 15" square sub, (i think the L7's are the square subs) the store i shop at has one and it rumbles the entire store...and the store is pretty big

Personally I would go with the Alpine out of the list. They sound good for SQ but don't get extremely loud. The kicker sounds pretty good in a ported box though. This is one of the personal preference deals so you should go and listen to them and let your ears decide for you.

if your considering alpine, you may also want to try out the infinity kappa perfect series. personally i think they sound better and are louder than the alpine R series.

Try a JL audio W6. They are less expensive but still share some of the W7's patented technologies. They would be great for SQ or SPl. Hope this helped you.

I would go with the JL audio w6v2..you can achive very good sound quality and a lower price then the w7...i know one 10inch w6v2 with approite box and power can produce 147db..i have seen it done and still have the specs for the box.
