I am installing a Crimestopper RS900VI on a 95 Olds 88. I got it to start once and now it will only start for a second or so and then shut off. It seems like it has gone into a tamper mode, the security light is flashing.
Using the PLXR Bypass. Only connected the VATS wires (Brown, Red, and Black), would this vehicle need the Passlock 1 wires hooked up also?

If the key has the chip on the metal shaft it's VATS, if there is no visible chip but the car will not start when remote started and all wires are correctly hooked up, then it's Passlock I. To test, start the car with your key and if the remote starter has a stop & go feature, enable it and take the key out of the ignition. If the car stays running, then it's a Passlock issue. If the car doesn't stay running, you have a Passlock problem and possibly a tach programming issue.

It has the visible chip on the key. So it is definetly VATS, what would make it go into security mode? I remote started it, and it stayed running the first time. I hit the remote start button again to shut the car off and now it will start, but immediately shut off.

You could also just use a resistor to bypass that VATS system.

Could, but the PLXR should do that without messing with resistors.

The PLXR only has 6 wires to hook up for the module to operate. Check all the connections again and make sure that the ground out when running wire still has (-) on it. Some units have a problem with fallen grounds on this connection so just double check again when you remote start that all connections to this module are functioning.

So which wires must be connected from proper operation with VATS of the PLXR?
Brown, Green, Blue, Red, & Black?

Pink is your Ignition input wire. That's what you need when you program the resistor code.
