If you like rap i would probly reccomend a ported box. Like this one from Q Logic. It even comes with a port plug if you get tired of it being ported.     http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-YspuulPDodB/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=842&I=044H1712SE&o=m&a=0&cc=01&avf=N  You could also go the custom route and get one that has a design on it or have one built that you can mount your amp on also.

or if you have the specs for the sub itself you can just build one yourself and save the money, plus making boxes is really fun, just takes a lil time and effort though. if you can put the port hole in the front where the speakers are. and then fire the port and speakers towards the trunk lid!

another thing to i forgot to mention. go to your walmart or some place and get some dakron (pillow stuffing) the really thick stuff too, and cut and paste it to the inside of the walls of the sub box. you'll trick the speaker into thinking its in a bigger enclosure!

Ok dude, the ugly problems are about to start, this is your sub as taken from the Rockford site. RFD2212 - 12" Punch HX2 DVC (4 ohm x 2). Your amp is rated at 125w rms x2 @ 4 ohm / 250w rms x2 @ 2ohm / 500w rms x1 @ 4ohm. This is not a good match of sub to amplifier, no offense intended if you made this purchase on your own.

Now while these numbers are the worst possible scenario for Rockford amps, it is a far cry from the claim of 1500watts, which is peak power by the way, or what the amp can produce for a "snapshot" in time. This amp is 2 ohm stereo stable, not 2 ohm mono stable. While you can use the amp in 2 ohm mono fashion, it will result in amp failure (in time, not right away) thus is not recommended. If you want to use this amp on one sub, throw the box out the window first, we need to get this thing operational

(1) hook the sub up to the amp as if each voice coil were 1 sub - run the amp in 4 ohm stereo mode 125w x 2 rms minimum

(2) hook the sub up wired in a series circuit to make it one 8 ohm driver, hook up to the bridge terminals of the amp (recommended). The amp will produce only 250w rms x 1 in this method, thus it can be viewed as the same amount of power as option 1.

The best option for you is to either replace the amp with a amp that is 2 ohm mono stable or replace the sub with a similar model, just dial 2 ohm coils. Now either way you want to go you are drastically underpowering this sub, one of the worst things you can do to it, why? Because you want to listen to your tunes loud and clear and when this amp is doing all it can (safely) and you want more, that is when you will clip it's outputs, thus causing distortion that will destroy your sub. If you want louder, you need a bigger amp in this particular case (with said sub) or a better match of subs to your amp (preferred).

Now for the box, I have built numerous 3cu.ft sealed enclosures for these subs (2 subs in one box), they have good sq and great depth extension and in the case of output, over 145 db (in a mazda MX3 with a 800.2 amp).  Start simple with your box, it is the magic piece of the puzzle that will make or break the output of your subs. If you are only going to use 1 sub, build it to the spec that Rockford suggests, you cannot miss with their recommendations.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

You need something like the Alpine MRD-500. It is a mono sub amp thats 2 ohm stable. At 2 ohms it'll give you 500 watts continuous which is just what you need. heres a link. http://www.alpine-usa.com/html/D2_n_1_n_n.html
