Well, you can not really set me straight on this one, I do not think that it is worth it to spend any more money on torx style screws than you would on regular screws. How many times have you gone out to your car after it had been broken into, and see all the screws that they nicely unscrewed and left laying in the car? I have not had that happen yet, but I have had everything ripped apart and laying all over the place including the street. I think that if they are screwed with regular screws and thethe thieves pull on the box for more than thirty seconds and it does not budge, they will just leave with the deck .

Yeah i had this happen to and all they did was kept pulling and until they broke panels and such and still got my amp and deck. The damage was more than what the stereo stuff was worth

My approach is to use .25" to .5" rounded-top carriage bolts through the floor with nylon insert lock washers underneath, with 18ga steel plates sandwiching everything together.  For the speaker mounting itself (the only real structural securing fasteners that I leave accessible) I just use regular phillips head.  That way I figure they'll take the speakers but leave the enclosure (with all of the work that goes into that) and the amps (which I usually hide) behind.  If you make one part easier to get out, they'll do the whole snatch and grab, and be less likely to destroy your car out of spite.  Then again, if I ever *catch* a theif, there's the matter of the CCW permit LOL.
