I've never had that problem before, but one thing I would check would be the wiring.  Make sure nothing is shorted out, and you have thick enough wiring to support what you're trying to do.  You might also have a bad ground to your amp.

Clipping, yes.  Not enough power?  No.  Gain problem?  Most likely.  You have the input gain on your amp set too high and the amp is going into protection.  OR, you have too low an impedence load on the amp.  What is your setup?

OK.  That sub is a DVC 4-ohm speaker, which means you can wire it either at 2 ohms or 8 ohms.  The amp is capable of being bridged, but into no less than a 4-ohm load.  So if you have the sub wired for 2-ohms (both voice coils in parallel) and have that bridged to your amp, you are overloading the amp and it will cut out.  For this configuration, you must wire the sub at 8-ohms (VCs in series) to the amp.  You will get approximately 75 watts to the amp (peak) with this setup.  This is not a good match.

Is this the same system you are asking about enclosure types on another thread?  If so, what kind of enclosure is it in now?
