i guess its just the American way....

I would have to agree with david i called david trying to figure out a damn 04 town and country. He gave me the number to omega and they helped me out witha product i did not by from them and that was not even theres. Its like here in the forum thats why we answer the ?'s because as most of you know we were the ones asking the ?'s but back when we had nobody to ask.

I don't know about you guys but from the forum postings on the DEI website, the tech support sucks from DEI ( telephone and internet ). You can get the same support from forums or calling other shops that do installations. This is just my 2c's on this topic, but I have seen better tech support coming from this forum and Auto Sound than the DEI tech pages and telephone support.

well I havent been using Omega products for 17 years but I have been using them for several years and they have given me less, no make that zero, problems at all so far. I have techsoft and the disk by Omega that I use along with bulldogs website just for good measure. Couple of weeks ago I was working on a Camry and the techsoft was just plain wrong on one ofthe features I was working on. Omega and bulldog were the same.
As to the DEI greed with tech support let me say this. I do in fact buy DEI from a distributor from time to time and I would bet you that if I called DEI trying to get on their website claiming that I buy their products from a distributor then they would try and tell the dist. to stop selling to me because Im not an authorized dealer.   That would start problems so screw DEI tech.

yeah, ive tried calling dei tech, and they wont even give you the time of day without a dealer code. even after i explained to them that i get product from a distributor, they wont even talk to you . which is really shi!@y.

huh.... i guess because i am an authorized dealer i have never had to deal with this.... but to be honest you are right.... i make it a habit here to have access to at least about 3 different sources of info because often, whether it's techsoft or Omega or WM, the info they give you may be incorrect... or they may say go here for a tach signal and another may say go here, which is way more accessible and quicker...

strange thing is...when you say giving out free tech support is the American way....Directed IS an American company.... but i guess i can see their point a little...it's bad enough when their tech support system gets bogged down by them talking dealers (authorized dealers) through problems only to find out that the product involved isnt even a DEI product..... but you're right... they could probably loosen their sphincter a little

thats why we dont rely on them other than having their info available as an alternate source of comparison

-damn, all i know is that, if i ever get stuck on an installation, i would post the problem on this forum and be sure that someone will answer it for me......
-Jeff is right, lots of ppl here can answer ur problem better than the DEI tech.
-i dont understand, what other info do you need? diagrams are listed everywhere.

alls i was looking for was another source of info when i tackle a new car. i agree that people post great info on here, but if your stuck in a rut and need an answer ASAP what are you suppose to do? post a message on here and tell the customer you cant finish there car until you get a reply on a message forum? I think this has been the most controversal topic in awhile on this board. DEI website password - Page 2 -- posted image. but i got my answer, so im happy
