Alarm works fine, all except for the remote start. I think its because of the tach. Can any one help me locate it?

  • ignition coil
  • coil pack
  • injector ( non common wire )

Go to any of these spots for a tach signal.

am installing a remote start on a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup. The remote-start alarm harness for the remote start is:

Orange -----(+) Acc

Pink -----(+) Ign
Purple -----(+) Stater
Red ----- (+) 12v
Blue/Blk ----(-) Ignition 2
Yellow/ White -----(-) Acc2
One illustration suggested doing this:
+12 to 87
wire from RS to 85
+12 to 86
Vehicles Secondary Primary to 30
It will not run. It will crank over but. Any information would be appreicated. Also any information on hooking up the accessory (heat/ac). I know that I must be forgetting one wire or have something backwards.  Thanks

The tach wire should be tan/red at the ignition coil. Don't forget to perform any tach programming that your system may have. Hope this helps.

Iamdr7,    First, your truck has 4 ignition wires that need to be powered up or there might be problems down the road. The factory service manual shows them as follows: IGN1-Blue 16ga, IGN2-RED / White 16ga, IGN3-Dark Green, IGN4-Orange. You're on the right track with your relay as long as your RS wire going to 85 is a negative ignition output. You'll need a relay for each additional ignition circuit.

Second, does your truck have a transponder type immobilizer? if so, your key should have a gray head and you will need to perform a transponder bypass. You can either use something like an Omega PASS-4 or DEI's 555L which both require an extra key or you can get an Omega DB-PKUCH module that interfaces with the vehicle's databus and doesn't require a key. If you can't find one locally, they are available on my site. Hope this helps.
