Hi all, I am installing a mobile video system into my 99 eddie b expedition which consist of this http://savinglots.com/lotprod.asp?item=Starpack5. I am keeping my HU and going to be using a FM transmitter. What I am trying to accomplish is that my entire system power up when the ignition is the acc position, sorta like the Hu works. Here's what I've done so far: I ran a 10 guage power wire from my battery to a relay that I wired like this: 12v constant ( from Batt ) into 87, acc from ignition into 86, ground into 85, and 10 guage output to the entire system. The dvd player came with two types of prewired connectors. One has a cigarette 12v adaptor that has the 12v acc, 12v contant and the ground wire connected to the dvd. I connected the dvd this way just to see if it would work and it works fine but I want to hard wire it... So the other connector is a wired plug that plugs into the dvd and has 4 wires: Acc, 12v constant, remote, and ground.  I connected the Acc wire and the constant wire into the power wire, that didn't work.  I also wired the 12v constant into the power wire and the acc into the acc wire in the back of my HU, once again didn't work. Everything else works fine, it's this damn dvd that has me stuck!Need Help with my dvd install -- posted image. Please let me what I am doing wrong or a better way to accomplish this. Thanks to all in advance Need Help with my dvd install -- posted image.

Take the output from pin 30 of the relay to the remote turn on wire of the 4 pin plug. Wire the ACC wire to IGN and the 12 V Constant wire to the battery and the ground to chassis. This will now work for you as the remote wire requires 12 volt switched in order to operate the DVD player.

Jeff,

One more question, I want to install a 400 watt inverter into this existing setup. I want to use a relay, how do I wire that to the existing relay? Or do I run a seperate power wire or can I get the power from another source? Once again  thank for everything.Need Help with my dvd install -- posted image.

What I would do is take the 10 gauge wire that you have from the battery and hook it up to a fuse holder and plit the output to the inverter and one to the relay for the remote wire. When dealing with the inverter you have to ensure that the ground is short and the chassis is clean and free of dirt or paint. If you do not do this, you will get interference in the form of lines in the video, noise in the speakers or intermittent power loss.

Hello all,

Thanks to info from the previous post I finally got my dvd player working( thanks Jeff )Need Help with my dvd install -- posted image., however my inverter install did not go as smoothly.  I did as Jeff stated above which as I understood was to fuse the power wire from batt. (which was already fused I just failed to mention it)and split it with one end going to the inverter and the other end to the existing relay for the remote,  but got no power.Need Help with my dvd install -- posted image. What did I do wrong? Should I have used another relay and if so how should it be wired? Need Help with my dvd install -- posted image.Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Ed

Did you use the proper wire from the inverter ? Just making sure that you used the (+) wire for the battery and the (-) for the ground. Where did you ground the (-) wire from the inverter ?

The inverter came with the battery clamp adapter wires which I chopped off the the clamps and used the red wire, which I assume is the positive, and split that in two with with one end going straight to the power wire and the other end going to the relay remote input.  I got no power doing this then to make sure the inverter was working I used the cigarette lighter attachment and the inverter worked fine. I did not ground it since I was just doing a trial run before I actually installed it and ran all the wires.  thanks
