stay away from sony i know that for sure....i know the alpine type r subs are good, so i would assume the compents are also, dont know about the others.  I just use diamond audio stuff for my mids and highs.

Of the ones you listed, here's my opinion:

I like the sound of Alpine S for general listening more than Type R.  R's have better mids and highs, but Type S's have more bass extension and tend to sound more natural to my ear.  Maybe it's just me.  The Infinity would be my first choice, though.  The Sony's have good mids and natural sounding voices (probably the best choice for listening to AM radio, actually) but get real flabby at the low end and real shrill at the high end.

If you can, listen to them side by side and get the ones that sound best to you

What kind of music do you listen to?  Do you have a sub?

The type-s speakers are geared towards the factory replacement aspect and we built to sound good with most music.  but the type-r's were more designed to be used with a sub, they are much louder and clearer in the mids and highs.
