I see.  I don't plan to hookup remote start at all.  But I want to keep track of status in case someone breaks into it.

Sometimes if I park at a school or theatre, it would be nice to get the status of the car at an extended range.  That is where I think I would want the compustar

What about the ease of installation.  I heard the DEI 791XV / RSX 3.5 install is simple, brain is small etc

But No one ever said to me that it's easy to install the compustar.. . and the brain is bigger

The Compustar CPU is larger than that of the DEI because of all the internal relays, where the DEI has external relays instead. The Compustar installation is quite involved and does require background experience with electrical connections as well as knowing how to solder and hide wires properly inorder for the alarm system to be stealth. This is true for ANY alarm system installed by anyone though.

I can solder splice and tap that is no problem.

Is it true that I need a "programmer" to program one of the compustar?  Or is that urban legend.
