I've got a Crimestopper CS-2015FM installed in a 1996 Ford Explorer and when I first put it in the range was incredible, I could start my car from inside the mall or wal-mart which is pretty good distance. Now I can't unlock it until I walk right up to it. I have already taken everything apart and checked the connection and they are all OK. Right now I am assuming that it is either the remote or the antenna. I've looked into buying a remote but they are $50-$60 plus shipping! So I was wondering if anybody else had any other ideas before I blew the money.

Have you replaced the battery in the remote? Sometimes range drastically reduces when the battery is low.

There are alot of things that could be messing with your range especially with the FM.

Doesnt the Crimestopper CS-2015FM come with two remotes? One LCD and another regular 4 button remote, what is the range on the other remote like?

The range on the other remote is about the same, but it is also an alot lower quality unit. But I guess the way it has been working lately the LCD isn't much for quality anyway.

We've noticed a lot of batteries for these units "N" cells are inconsistant, check with meter, install new bateries.  Some last only 2-3 weeks, other a year.  Also, check battery contacts, make sure they are clean.  Clean the annt (rca) end of receiver, make sure has good contact.
