I am going to be moving to NY in a couple of months and was thinking I want to get an alarm for my convertible. However, I don't really know how effective they are. My car was broken into a few months ago and they just cut through my top. They tried to steal my stereo, but they just broke it, because they could not get it out. Anyway, should I get an expensive alarm or a cheap alarm, or should I just tint my windows?
Thanks for the suggestions.

I'd get a paging alarm with a radar sensor. That way, you can be notified when your alarm is triggered because your pager will go off. As for the radar sensor, when hooked up properly it will protect the interior. When it senses movement in the interior, it will trigger the alarm. So this will give you added protection whether the top is up OR down.

With a convertible i suggest when you get an alarm you also get a Micro sensor or motion sensor, that way if you have the top down it will dectect someone trying to reach in.

Microwave sensors, radar sensors, motion sensors... They all do the same thing, they detect movement and motion within a certain area.

A removable face stereo is likely to deter a thief (as long as you remove it) since the thing is not worth much without the face.
