Your alarm will come with pretty detailed instructions, so it shouldnt be too hard. You will have to splice into many of your wires in the drivers side dash, in the steering column harness, and the kick panel. The wiring for a 90 caddy brougham is as follows:
WIRE---------color---------location----------------
12Volts......RED...........Ign harness
Ign 12v......pink..........Ign harness
Ign 2........orange........Ign harness
Accsy........Brown.........Ign harness
Tach.........white.........at distributor
Starter......purple........Ign harness
Brake(+).....light blue....switch above brake pedal
dome light(-).white........At any pinswitch or ctsy light
trunk pin(-)..dark green...instrument cluster
trunk release(+)..black....at trunk release switch
parking lights(+)..brown...at headlight switch
power lock(+)....light blue..driver kick panel*
power unlock(+)...black......driver kick panel*
*Positive pulse doorlocks

im installing a viper 690xv in a 90 cadillac brougham. this is my first install of an alarm and i got a few questions.

the white wire is supposed to go to the parking light and my vehicle wiring guide off here says thats the brown wire on the light switch - i cant find this wire, im guessing this is what makes the lights blink when it arms.

also where and how is a good place to mount the shock sensor. i dont think there are any mounting tabs on the sensor itself and i would think you have to have a solid mount to the body.

thanks for any help.

Look for the BROWN parking light wire low in drivers kick panel. The shock sensor you can mount on any flat surface or on a large loom of wires. If the shock sensor is upright, if you turn it CW it will make it more sensitive.

wire tie the shock sensor to a good wire loom under the dash, usually CW is increasing sensitivity and CCW decreases.   If you cant find the brown wire at the light switch, then turn on the parking lights only and meter the wires at the switch unitl you find one with 12 Volts on it, turn off the lights and see if it dumps voltage . If it does use this wire....    almost all older GM's use a brown wire for parking lights so it should be there.....
