i have installed a alpine cva-1003 and i can't get a picture when i turn on my dvd player. the security feature is hooked up right because i could see the display and get into the setup menu and evrything else, but when i go to play a dvd all i get is a black screen and sound but no picture. the dvd player i have is not an alpine one but i also tried my ps2 and the same thing happens. my audio video cables are hooked up properly.

can someone please help me on this issue? i've read the owners manuel but there's not much said on trouble shooting this problem.

^^^If he is able to go into the setup then he has bypassed the "video interlock" which wouldn't be the issue.

did you buy the unit used?

If it doesn't fit.......make it fit.

Javiermachuca Did you ever get your ps2 to work with the Alpine cva 1003. And if you did how did you get it to work? I ahve the same identical problem. I can get to the setup screen but no video from the ps2.

Are you sure you have the DVD connected  to the input and not the output?  Check in the setup menu and verify you have it set up correctly.
Do it right the first time

So how does that work? Out of the three input wires(red, yellow, white) do I leave the rest connected and just ground the yellow? Or do I splice into the yellow and ground that wire and still leave the yellow video wire connected to the ps2? Or is there a different video wire I supposed to be dealing with?
