subs upside down

So if you want to mount the sub upside down...I have a Dual Voice coil, You wire it opposite so that + on the amp is wired to - on the sub in series or do you wire one side normally and then wire it in parralel oppsite. I think that makes sense. 

i hear you on that insomnia thing, had it for the past week. im sympathetic with you on that one man, feel sorry you have to deal with this all your life...it does add some time to your days tho. the nights seem longer than the days to me.

wiring the subs inverted when inverted allows the two subs to still work with each other as to not loose the 3db increase of the added cone area and inverting the sub also "makes" the enclosure bigger as the basket is not inside and the cone area adds to the enclosure instead of taking away from it. Alpine Guy was correct as there is no advantage or disadvantage except there is a change in the box size which you can use to your advantage some times and there is also more chance that you will damage the sub due to objects hitting the magnet, basket, etc.

make sure you follow stevdart's advice to a t because if you wire one voice coil normally and the other reversed you will have major losses in performance from the sub.

yes if you inverted 1 sub out of 2 and they had a shared enclosure and did not switch the polarity on the inverted sub you would be creating an isobaric setup along with  -3db and allowing the subs to hit lower fhz, as if the enclosure was twice the size it actually is.

yeah man, i had to put them that way cause i was trying to fit 2 12's  right above the wheel well in the trunk. it was my first fiberglass box i made so when i hooked em up with one inverted with the polarity switched it sounded like s..t. i thought oh well i just made a crappy box and thats the last one ill ever do. then i changed the polarity and wow!
