Hi, i have a 96 Pontiac Sunfire GT. I installed the entire system, everything works fine on it except the remote start. I hooked it up just like it said, one yellow goes to the alarm system, the other yellow goes to the starter, and the yellow and black goe to the key. I've tried it both ways, and nothing works. There are 5 wires coming out of the relay, red for +, violet is for starter kill, 2 yellows, one i assume goes to the alarm, and the other goes to the starter, and then the yellow and black, anyone have any idea why its not working, thanks.

ok it should be wired like this:

Alarm (CN1)---------------Your car(1996 Sunfire)

Red--------------------------Red (ign switch)

Gr/Wh---------------------- Brown  (drivers kickpanel main harness)

RED / Wh--------------------Red (ign switch)

Wh--------------------------Orange (ign switch)

Voilet-----------------------XXXXXXX (pre-wired)

Yellow--------------------- Yellow (motor side of starter)

Yellow/black------------- Yellow (key side of starter)

Gr/Rd-----------------------Pink

Black-----------------------Ground

On the RED / wh wire from the alarm you will have another relay. You MUST connect the Blue relay wire to the white wire in your Ign switch. The car will not remote start without that connected. Thats the 2nd ignition. The left over purple wire goes to the (-) accessory output from the alarm CN2. Your car wont start without these wires connected. If you still have problems the compustar should give you a fault code to tell you whats not connected right. Also check the Tach wire, or learn the Tach again.

Good Luck,

k, well i have a few of those, so do you think you can tell me how to make it work with one of those.  Basically describe what the wires on the second harness do and go to, and maybe i can rig something up.

just out of curiosity, does the remote start work if you stick your key into the ignition keyhole tumbler? if it does, then your vehicle has a factory immobilizer that needs to be bypassed.

Ok man here is the wiring for that relay.

Relay Terminal--------------Wire color

#30------------------------------Blue

#85------------------------------Purple

#86 & #87---------------------Jump Them together

#87-----------------------------Constant 12V

#87a-(mid terminal)-------No Use

Now just use the previous info that I posted for the blue and purple wires.

Good Luck
