I'm kinda new to the whole car audio thing, doing it myself anyway. I was wondering if the Phoenix Gold Octane-R 12D ( http://www.cardomain.com/item/PHOR12D ) would work ok with the Kenwood KAC-X521 amp ( http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9FCfVtr7M42/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?i=113KACX521&search=KAC%2DX521 ) and if they are fine what would be the best way to wire them up? also if anyway has the Octane-R 12D please let me know if you are satisfied with them.

Thanks

If you are planning on using two subs, you can use the type of amp you referred to.  When the sub is a 4 ohm DVC, it will be either a 2 ohm or a 8 ohm sub when the coils are wired.  Two combined would give the amp a 4 ohm load.  If the plans are to use one sub, look at class D mono amps to power it, because they (check the model) can handle the 2 ohm load.  Here is a wiring wizard.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
