Hey i was wondering if you guys think a 2004 BMW 330i could handle the extra load of an Alpine MRD-M1001 on its stock alternator?

If you're running it at 2 ohm mono, u might see some headlight flicker.  At 4 ohm mono, u shouldn't notice anything.  I'd go for it, and definitely get a 1 farad capacitor.

Most german cars have larger then average alternators. I would try your amp in that car and if headlighting dimming is severe then buy a H.O. alternator.

BMW have serious computers in them that Draw alot of power. Thats why the altenators seems so big, same can be said for benz, VW and Audi's. All the new ones have bigger than average altenators. Now with that being said, thats a big amp and I am guessing that its gonna pull far more than the reserve on the car and is gonna make your lights flicker and what not. Will the car shut down, no. But I am guessing that its gonna throw some mad draw at that car. I would see about a bigger altenator but on a BMW I gotta think its gonna cost some serious coin.

well damn, Can anyone think of a good amp to run the eclipse titanium 15 on. RMS of 750. I want a really good amp though. I dont think the mrd-m501 could move it enough. They are tested at 600 watts rms with 14.4 volt though. But any amp suggestions? And can i hook up an amp to a 330i without an aftermarket headunit? (Does the bmw have preamp outputs?)
thanks

No preamp outputs, your options are limited to a high level converter or getting RCA's soldered on to the board by someone who knows what they are doing.

Get yourself a Audio Control processor with a built in LOC ---> amplifier choice with sub level controller = BMW 330i Handle mrd-m1001? -- posted image. wait a minute it was a Titanium Eclipse 15" = BMW 330i Handle mrd-m1001? -- posted image. There are lots of amplifiers suited to this task. Keep looking and one will pop up. Find a amp that is designed and engineered to operate at 2 ohm mono. Eclipse, Xtant and Rockford come to mind.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
