MTX D class amp

Hola folks,

I was just curious what your thoughts are on MTX's model 6001? I recently bought one and would appreciate any feedback from you guys, whether it be positive or negative.

Also, as a side note..  I picked up a used older-type Sherwood amp (BP series).  It says 240 watts, so I'm assuming that it's appx. 60 x 2 rms.      Is it worth hooking up?  or should I use it as a boat anchor?

MTX makes solid reliable stuff.  I think you'll be happy with it.

I'm working on putting a new system in my Dodge D-50 extended cab again.

Back in the day, I had MTX terminator 15's in the back (4). I was mainly into SPL back then... (back when Punch 150's were all black and 'The Punch' written on them in red). Also, Phoenix Gold hadn't had their infamous amp recall yet.. and Epicenters were the trend among SPL enthusiasts.  But now that I'm older, I have come to appreciate good SQ as well.  So I'm going to attempt a sort of  "hybrid" system, that has high end SQ, but also some good SPL. I may end up getting another 6001 for whatever sub configuration I go with.  I'll know after I test drive this one a little bit, lol.

This post is in reference to my previous post entitled: MTX D Class Amp.

In that post, I mentioned a Sherwood amp.  I now have better details about it.  It's a Sherwood BP Series..  model GA-1072BP. A 4 channel, with 2 (30 amp) fuses.

Any information from you guys or gals about this particular amp, would be greatly appreciated.

I'll re-read the rules.  I've obviously missed something.

The Sherwood amp was a pretty good amp for it's time.  If you already have that amp it wouldn't hurt to hook it up.  I don't know the exact ratings on this amp but the BP stands for bullet proof.  These BP amps normally came with epoxy coated boards, circuit protection, wiring protection and a cooling fan. 

I think that my brother has one in his closet that still works and may have the paper work to it also.  I will call him and check and I may be able to give you a little more information.
