I have a 91 bmw with separate L (+) and R (+) parking light wires coming off the light switch. I'm installing a Code CA-640. The parking light out from the alarm (+) does not need a relay. But code says to diode isolate. The diagram below shows how I wired it up. It all works fine but my problem is the diodes get very hot when they are triggered. I'm not sure what the rating is on the diodes, I got them from a local car audio shop. I told them I need diodes for my bmws parking lights and they gave me a couple. I'm not sure if I wired it wrong or if I got the wrong diodes. I did check the amperage draw of the parking lights and it was around 3.5

The 6 ampere diode you require is a D620. It is rated for 6 amps, and has a working voltage of 200 volts.

Thank you guys, I picked up some 6 amp diodes today rated at 50v. I'll see if that works. Thanks again.
