My alarm remote has a tendancy to not work at times and as i have no key locks on my car, i often get get trapped.

I want to wire a switch directly to the solenoid in my door so i can at least open the door.

I have a 5 wire solenoid, what is the best way to wire up the switch.

Thanks

There are Pressure, Magnetic, Touch, etc. switches U could probably use. It would depend on your personal preferences.

Or U could put a CHEAP Keyless Entry  on (maybe even used,   A lot of Stereo shops get old stuff they have to take off)  and be done with it

A trick I used to use for applications like this was to use a magnetic reed switch inside a tail light. Stash the magnet that comes with the switch behind the gas filler door. You need a normally open switch. If you have aftermarket door locks, there should be a lock and unlock trigger on the module you can use the reed switch to activate. The beauty of the system is that weather shouldn't be a problem and you don't run the risk of someone finding the hinden switch.

The reed switch looks like the way forward. I have a clifford but is there a way i can bypass the alarm and link directly to the solenoid.

I'm assuming a pulse sent to one one the wires would unlock, which one though?
