Hey all,

Trying to install said alarm into my '89 240sx.  Can't figure out how to wire up the manual push button for the remote start (it's the push button that is mounted in your car.  the big one that came in its own bag)  Can anyone tell me specifically which wires to connect to the button and where/how to connect them?  The instructions in the manual were sketchy at best.  Also, would anyone happen to know exactly where to find the door trigger/dome light wire for my car?  I've looked through several wiring charts, and the locations they gave were either very inconvenient (at dome light switch?!?) or vague (behind instrument cluster???).  Does anyone know a good, easy to find and access spot for me to tap in?  Thanks in advance!

Tim

Before I ask away, I just want it to be know that I've looked through several wiring charts, including ones on this site, and I still can't find the following wires:

- Door trigger/dome light:  I know the charts say either at the switch or behind instrument clusters, but these 2 spots are very inaccessible and too vague, respectively.  I have tried several wires near the light switch and behind the instrument panels unsuccessfully.  Does anyone know a good, accessible spot to tap in?  Can you provide detailed instructions on how to find it?

- Tach: The charts say yellow/red wire at EMU/passenger kick, but there are 2 wires with the same color there.  Does anyone know which it is?

Thanks!

one side of the switch is a ground connection the there other to the blue white activation input. and for your door trigger best bet is to pull of your panel and find the wires.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the quick response!  I get the idea in theory, but I actually need to know how to physically set up the button.  Like where to attach the wires.  Here's what I'm working with:

Can someone tell me what the button is supposed to come in contact with when it's depressed?  How/where should I use the little red piece?  How/where do I attach wires to the actual button assembly?

Please excuse the newb questions, but I've never wired up my own button switch before.  Thanks!

Are you kidding? That's the hood pin switch.

RayDawg,

I wanted to PM you about a DEI 516L module but your mail box is full. Was going to ask if you could get me any info from the Directed web site that could possibly help me. The 516L works fine but will not make any announcements when going into the remote start mode. I've triple checked the wir connections and all is per the instructions. I'm using the 516L with the Matrix RS 3.5. Any help would be truely appreciated. It seems nobody on this forum knows the 516L enough to help me out. I've posted questions twice and plenty of reads but no responses.

Umm... I may not know much, but I'm pretty sure my alarm didn't come with a hood pin switch.  It DOES come with a push button remote start, and this is the only unidentified switch I have left.  I'm almost positive that's the remote start button assembly.  Anyone else have an idea?  Am I way off?

That is the hood pin switch. The Matrix doesn't come with a push button start button. That sends a signal if the hood is open where the car won't start, and run over someone.
