I'm trying to connect only one sub which is a dvc 4ohm sub. This is probably easy, but do I simply connect wires to either of the voice coils and don't touch the second coil or do I have to connect both to stay at 4 ohm?
And one more question, what is this that came with my sub (10 inch, Infinity Kappa Perfect):
what is it?

u want to connect them both, using only one coil is not good. however, if u have dual 4 ohms, and u want to stay at 4 ohms, ur outta luck. you. u would have to go back and get the svc 4 ohm to stay at 4 ohm. btw, the link didnt work, but if its the little black rolled up thing, its to seal around the woofer.

yea, thats just to from a solid seal around the mounting surface of the subwoofer. cut it to size and put it between the baffle board and the woofer before drilling it into place.

Yeah, it's the black rolled up thing. How would I seal it? Just wrap it between the sub edge and the box's hole edge?
Why is it no good using only one coil? Is there any way to stay at 4ohm with one dvc? I'd get a svc, but it was the only Infinity sub on ebay that the seller would ship to Canada...so it was my only choice kinda.

u run one voice coil, its like having a front wheel drive car and leaving the e-brake on. run it long enough ur gonna f**k something up. lol. its more technical than that but im not in an explaining mood right now. what kind of amp do you have? you might be able to run it at 2 ohms and be ok

My amp (PG Xenon 400.1) can run at 2ohm, but I do not want to sacrifice sound quality. Yeah, and why does it say the sub is 4ohm if I cannot run it at 4ohm?

If it's Dual 4-ohm its Dual 4-ohm...That means u have 2 sets of voice coils, each one being 4-ohms...U can connect them in parallel and get 2-ohms or u can connect them in series and get 8-ohms...If ur amp is 2-ohm stable, run the sub at 2-ohms and be done with it...
I was reading a white sheet on an adire sub, i dunno if it was Tempest or Shiva but they had a configuration of 1 coil connected and one "shorted", i dunno how safe that is to run a sub like that, but it can be done i gues...But i wouldn't do it, what's the point, ur not gonna hear the difference in sound quality from 2-ohms to 4-ohms unless ur the six-million dollar man or something.
