Computer controlled motors?

alright, heres what im thinking. is there anyway i could create some sort of setup in which i could make a computer output a signal to give electrical current to say...a power window motor? or anything like the such???

Can you write C code? A PIC Microcontroller would allow that.... Little time and effort, and some skill EE would help.

What are you trying to accomplish? Using a PIC would involve some time and money. Give me more details, and I can probably come up with a more viable solution.

hmm...I think he's thinking about maybe controlling a bunch of functions from a computer...like power windows, AC, door locks, etc etc.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but Why?
Why use a computer to do what a simple switch can just as easy? Unless you want MS Windows in your car, and are doing GPS and video playback. You want to use Ethernet, too? Not sure what the point would be.

actually thats what ill be doing. dont know about windows, but probably linux, with touchscreen, and GPS MP# and video playback, all integrated through computer intferaceable drives, dvd player etc.
