installing a dvd player?

i have a  feew simple questions...

im replacing my previous jvc cd player with a kenwood 815 flip out dvd player..

can i go out and buy a kenwood wiring harness thats meant for a kenwood cd player and use the harness on the dvd player or do i need something different?

also, are these dvd players hooked up the same way as a normal head unit?

are there any how to's on this?

as for the harness, you'll want to use the one that comes with the radio itself. since you have to mount the control module somewhere else in the car. As far s like a normal head unit, yes and no. It'll be like installing a cd player w/both a changer and satalite tuner. As in you'll have a cable that goes from the radio to the brain module and then you'll have the harness from the brain module that you'll have to run up front to get all of the power/ground and speaker connections. I have this unit, it's really nice. you'll love it.

like wireing a normal deck just more wiring, fire up the ol soldering gun and get ready for fun

what do  i need a soldering gun for? cant i just use wire connectors?

I tired using wire connectors for awhile in my car.  The damn things kept falling off!  I would'nt suggest using them.

For a good Soild connections its best that you soldering gun,it keeps a good flow of current going through at all time

I don't care for connectors always seem to come apart.

you learn as you go. I solder everything now but before I crimped everything for years. Ive had a few come loose , caused lots of head aches. Crimp connectors probly what gave me carpal tunnel.....lol. Havent had anything come loose since ive taken the time to solder everything.

$15 soildering Iron from radio shack will save alot of head scratching and cursing later on
