I am installing a Viper 791XV into a 2000 Grand Am.  It is a 5 wire positive according to 12volts specs.  Do I have to buy additional relays or can the polarity be switched within the brain of the unit??  Also which passlock do I need to buy for this.  I know that I would like a keyless passlock if possible.  Thanks Jeff

The 2000 Grand AM is a one wire system. Using a relay the white wire found in the DKP, when a ground is pulsed it will lock the doors, with a ground through a 1500 ohm (1.5K) resistor you may also lock the doors.
You will need a Passlock II bypass. A 555L or 555T will do the job via a DEI product.

So are you saying I can use a relay AND a resistor or one or the other??  How would I go about hooking it up??  On the Grand am, is it about the same spots for all the wires as a grand prix.  I have done 4 grand prixs with remote start/alarm system combos and had no problem but I wonder how differnt it is in a grand am.  Any info is greatly appreciated to get this job done as fast and efficent as possible.  Thanks

Jeff

Thanks very much.   I will be attempting this on friday of this week so hopefully it will be smooth.  If anyone has anymore tips on the Grand Am I would appreciate it.  Everyone that has been responding, thank you, it will definately help me out with the installation.
