Does the magnet help in dissipating heat and thus slightly increasing the RMS watts of a similar speaker?

No.

I hear it all the time at the flea market (usually while I'm looking for cheap ceramics) "Dude, look at the awesome mondo ghetto magnet on that sub!  I bet that thing bangs!  And cool, it's chrome plated too!  Dude we gonna bump wit dat!"  Sickening.

I plan on getting the ZX-4812 12" Subwoofer looks pretty nice for a reasonable price. No joke. probably sounds decent for  reasonable price as well. I dont mind giving them a shot.! not at all.

MUAHAHHAA i like big magnet SUb woofers. MAUHAHAHHa i can tell all them newbies "Look at my Magnet! the biggest baddest subwoofer compared to your friends fosgate P3 sub"  MAUAHHAHA SUCKAS!!!

Ah haha. I bet half or more of the magnet on those woofers is just like magnet colored lead or something. That awesome.

lol...I like those massive cooling fins on that sub!
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
