most RS have a wire that has to see ground in order for the remote start to work and it just so happens that most vehicles have a wire that comes directly of the parking brake that has a ground when the brake is engaged.... same wire you'd use with an in-dash video system

i did an install into my 94 escort, it did have a neutral safety wire in the manual trans. you wll need a the vehicles wiring schematic to find out if yours has one. chiltons or haynes usually have schematics. then youll need a meter to test it etc...  i believe some cars have this wire for the computer diagnostics. i figured this out when i was running diag codes once and it said the clutch switch or trans switch was open, or something to that effect! if you dont have this wire i would highly recommend not doing this install, too much liability.
