It's a cup you put behind the speaker. Helps with speaker's performance and some sound deadening.

These guys... They make a nice seal to mount the driver to and help dampen resonance.

I cut a hole in the back so as to not restrict the air flow. I've heard of some people glassing them, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're using the driver solely as a midrange driver.
