i have that same problem on cold mornings i dont have tach hooked up. i did but it use to shut down saying it was over revving but it wasnt the only way i got it to work was to go to voltage sense i also notice that it does the short start when i havent driven in a couple days. might be to much draw on my battery. i have so much stuff i am probably pulling 100 milliamps. but i drive every day excepts someweekends but never more than 2 days .

securinu, are you sure it learned teh tach correctly?  Usually the overrev is around 2500-3000 rpm?  Personally I would never install a remote start with anything other then tach sensing.   nothing else works reliably.

Perhaps you should try a injector wire if you can't get a proper tach reading.

yeah i did program it reads and confirms . i even tried hi revving the engine while programming and figured if i programmed it @ 2500 then the 800-1000 at start would be fine, but still would not work so i programmed to voltage and it was fine. i have had this problem on a few dodges mostly with the 5.9 360 engine like mine.

Interesting.  I don't use this brand of start but have never had a problem getting a tach signal.  In fact there shouldn't be a problem as that truck just uses and ordinary coil.  Where are you getting the wire?  What year is your truck?  I am not saying you are doing something wrong, I just want info for my own refference in the future.
It almost sounds like that unit does have a high enough setting for this tach.  It would read as an 8cyl at around 1000 rpm.  Perhaps this is the high end of the scale.  Is there no manual setting on the tach on this unit?

2002 Durango R / T and i tried both an injector and the tach @ the coil and both did the same thing . so the voltage sense at least shuts off when started instead of fixed cranking time.
