And frankly, not to beat this to death, but if you're frequently running at over 500w to 2 of those subs, it won't matter before long.... you'll be deaf.

So thats a thumbs up on the jl 500/1  , what about the jbl 600 watt amp?  Is their really a sq difference between amps?  Thanks for all the help!

JBL is regarded as an excellent amp for the money.  Please don't buy it just for the extra 100w though.  You won't be able to hear a volume difference at all.

If you're going to get 2, get the 2-ohm version.
Then wire it like this:

The Jl 500/1 is stable at  1.5 , 2.0 and 4 ohm's right? So 2   2ohm   IDQ12v.2 would not be working the amp to hard?  Is $159 a good price for the IDQ's?

$159 is a great price. They're regularly $200. Is that from cardomain.com?
You're right, 2-ohms is fine for that amplifier. As stevdart pointed out in another thread, that amp is very flexible, being stable and consistent across a range of speaker loads.
