The IDQs are much more comfortable in small boxes. To get the w3v2 into the same sized box you'll raise the Q above that of the IDQ. The transient response will suffer some because of the higher Q box design.
I don't think you can go wrong with that JL amp.

Would 2  IDQ12 v.2's with a jl 500/1 amp ,  sound better and hit harder then  1   Kicker comp vr with 200 watts to it?  The kicker is sealed also but i has about 1.25ft of airspace where the idq's have .90 each which according to their site is a normal size enclosure for them. So which is it?  Would the IDq's hit the lows as good or better tan the kicker also?

You can't even put Kicker and Image Dynamics in the same sentence (oops, i just did!)...::Begs the Audio Gods for forgiveness:: but anyways, the IDQ's will smoke them. Two other great SQL subs are the Adire Brahma 10'', and of course the 10W7. But for the budget, the IDQ's are awesome. No doubt about that. Really deep clean bass. Check out the IDMAX series too. I'm unaware if they make a 10", they probably do. Also check into Alumapro - great stuff.

Yes. The 2 IDQ's on a 500w amp would crush the single comp vr with 200w and a 1.25ft^3 box. 3 reasons:
1) The IDQ's are slightly more sensitive. Even 1 IDQ would give you more SPL than the kicker - even if you only gave both of them 200w.
2) By using 2 subs AND increasing the power by over 2x you'll be increasing the SPL by more than 6db over the single kicker.
3) The kicker in a 1.25ft^3 box is in a fairly high Q application. The low bass extension will be better with the IDQ's.
So, you're probably looking at ~+7db difference in SPL between the 2 IDQ drivers at 500w and the single kicker at 200w. 10db is a doubling of volume. Plus the IDQ's will have better low extension and sound quality than the kicker.
Anyway, they'll beat the comp in just about every way, given that situation.

I would like spend $300-400.   The jl only puts out 500 watts and the RMS for two IDQ12v.2's is 750. What amps would you recommend?

You're fine with 500w to the IDQ 12" speakers. You won't even gain 2db max SPL by upping the power 250 watts. 99.9% of the time you won't hear a difference.

i heard the idq's with 100 wrms and couldn't tell much of a diff from 300 wrms.  We switched amps on the sound board to hear the diff, ,but there really wasn't no difference.  On the computer it would probably show the bigger amp fed a cleaner signal, , but if you can hear that in a sub your abnormal.

So 250rms to each sub should and would definately do you good.
