i dont know where most of you guys are but i am in the sf bay area, i get $299 for a remote start alarm. i refuse to give things away , like the crap they sell on e-bay . i have customers who call me and want that crap installed with no manual no schematic what so ever. then they expect a cheap install , and i tell them just cause someone else was stupid and sold it @ cost or below what i can get QUALITY  product for , doesnt mean i am going to give my services away, i have bills to pay and with that crap your almost guaranteed a return visit . and customers have a hard time paying when you tell them it is product failure ,so i choose not to install products i dont sell. just my $.02

Well for comparison my distributor is selling under car kits for $138.  These guys must be buying overseas and importing them or selling old stock.  It's the only way I know of.  I just got a fax on 7" flip down monitors for $200 from my California distributor.

Well I agree I don't want to give my services away either.  I rarely have anything come back.  That's why I have a hard time figuring out why certain autostarters crap out in certain cars.  I do all the vehicles the same hooking up all the leads and not short cuttting anything.  The autostarter brain locking up is just a pain and it makes the installer look bad.   The Chrysler products I installed the Xtreme models in will both be exchanged for either an Audiovox or Magnadyne.  As for the future of Xtreme with me I might have to drop them although I never have any problem getting them exchanged they even give me newer models back if I want.

Hey guys, just read your posts back and forth and sounds like you guys are like myself ( owner of a business ). We are in an area that has high competition for installations of RS and alarm units. The going rate for installing a complete RS unit ( keyless entry, remote starter, transponder bypass ) is about $ 100.00 for the installation and $ 165.00 for the actual unit.
